“Be Active!” Fall Walks in the Erie County Parks

August 20, 2009

The Erie County Health Department is proud to sponsor more “Be Active!” walks along with Wegmans, the Wellness Institute, the Catholic Health System and the New York State Department of Health.  County Health Commissioner Dr. Anthony Billittier is urging area residents to take advantage of the free guided walks in the County Parks this fall.  Free gifts will be given away at each walk.

The walks will take place at the following locations:

September 12 – Delaware Park

September 19-Isleview Park

September 26-Akron Park

October 3-Emery Park

October 17-Chestnut Ridge Park

October 24-Ellicott Creek Park

Meeting locations will be posted at the park entrances on the days of the walks.  Registration for each walk begins at 9 a.m. on site.  Participants will learn more about how to get and stay healthy, and participate in assorted health screenings including bone density, glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI and others.

Assorted Senior Services programs, health education materials and smoking cessation services and products will also be available at each walk.
